About The Foundation
Rooted in Legacy. Focused on the Future.
Our Mission
To empower young athletes through education, training, and facility development, ensuring every player, regardless of background, has the opportunity to succeed on and off the ice.
Our Vision
To be a leading charitable organization in Manitoba that strengthens communities, removes barriers in sport, and builds futures through education and hockey development.

Our Story
Since 1997, the Brandon Wheat Kings Foundation has stood as a proud extension of one of Western Canada’s most iconic hockey teams. What began as a way to support players has evolved into a community-driven organization that empowers youth through the transformative power of sport and education.

We’re more than a fundraising arm, we’re a mission in motion.
Our Core Values

Opportunity
Every child deserves access to sport and education.
Community
We serve Southwestern Manitoba with pride and purpose.
Integrity
We lead with transparency and accountability.

Legacy
We honour the Wheat Kings tradition by supporting the next generation.
Inclusion
We work to remove barriers and make hockey more welcoming.
Excellence
We strive for high-impact outcomes in all we do.

Connected to the WHL Scholarship Program
As part of the Western Hockey League (WHL), our players are eligible for the WHL Scholarship, a fully guaranteed post-secondary education program offered to every WHL graduate. Over 350 players benefit from the scholarship each year, enabling players to pursue university, college, or career training after their hockey careers.

The Brandon Wheat Kings Foundation builds on this by providing additional scholarships, mentorship opportunities, and transition support for players as they move beyond the rink.

Together with the WHL, we’re shaping futures, not just athletes.

Why It Matters
Hockey has always been a part of our identity in Brandon, but it’s about more than goals and games. It’s about creating opportunities for every child to belong, learn, grow, and succeed.

Whether it’s a first set of gear, a scholarship award, or an upgraded community rink, every initiative we support represents a step forward, and a nod to the values that define our hometown: hard work, loyalty, and community spirit.
